DESCRIPTION:The last Saturday in January is National Seed Swap Day. The ritual of swapping and sharing seeds happens anytime one is ready to grow. Join the Fiesta Place Community Garden for our first Seed Swap and Sip. We are celebrating the garden as we invite our community to bring clean small tools\, seeds no more than two years old and correctly labeled\, books\, seed catalogs\, and inspirational garden magazines to share. We have a seed collection and would love to share them with you. We have invited the Prince Georges Cunty Master Gardeners to share some knowledge on gardening basics and more. We have invited Brittany McCraw\, Project Green Foot\, to share what she has done as she creates a global green community. \nJoin us for a hot cup of tea or hot cocoa\, door prizes\, and seed swapping! Saturday will feature three sessions – The Wisdom of Trees: Urban Forestry and Black Land Ownership in the Subaltern South\, Beyond Borders: The Ethno-Botanical and Horticultural Influence of African Americans\, African Americans and Immigrants on the American Landscape\, and Centering African American Narrative Stories in Contemporary Environmental Literature and Media. \nThis is going to be a weekend of conversation and information to enlighten and inspire.
