Franck Laval, Owner of Solar Hotel in Paris, France, made quite an impression on me. Particularly during our conversation on gardening and perspectives. The word Perspective stuck in my mind as I started my trek to find the three English inspired gardens that Napoleon III had to have. Napoleon III was not a linear kind of personality. His thoughts on the traditional graph paper layout was not positive, from his point of view. There are three English inspired gardens that Franck knew of and shared with me where they were located. I made it to two of them so far. Why only two??? I was deterred by another park that I happened upon as I decided to walk across the Seine from my cute little apartment in the 13thAR – quiet, off the beaten path and conducive for writing at the end of a day.
The park I happened upon was originally called Parc Bercy, however it is now dedicated to the memory of Yitzhak Rabin.
Let me tell you, I could have swallowed an elephant as I entered down the steps becoming enveloped by beauty. I was totally taken aback at the peace and beauty that surrounded me.
The borrowed views everywhere I looked were simply amazing and I simply followed my heart down as many paths as I could. To wake up and aimlessly walk, because Paris is a walking City, to partake of the endless surprises found around every corner and happen upon this was simply a great way to start my day. Especially when I wandered into this…
Upon closer inspection led to this…..
Which led to this view…
Ultimately this was the view that really caused me to pause and reflect upon my journey…
Once I walked through this wonderful wisteria draped columnar walkway, a whole new perspective opened up that was bright, colorful and inspirational…
I cannot put into words the beauty that I just happened upon. I can tell you that I truly began to understand what Franck meant by perspective…….
This is just a sampling of the beauty that I found while visiting Parc Bercy….talk about an accidental find……more about the English inspired gardens when I catch my breath and recapture my heart….
